Stan Wawrinka has a Saturday league opted out of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. The former winner of the tournament in Rotterdam will be replaced by Gilles Simon.
The 34-year-old Wawrinka was last year at the final Table. The Swiss then went down in three sets to fall against Gaël Monfils. It was the fourth time that Wawrinka took part in the ABN AMRO tournament that he has been in 2015 for his name in the book.
At the Australian Open ended Wawrinka earlier this month, in the quarter-finals. He was eliminated by Alexander Zverev, who, for the first time in the semi-final battle of the Grand Slam tournament reached.
For Simon, the world number 61, is the eighth of its participation in Rotterdam, the netherlands. The 35-year-old Frenchman, has reached three times (2008, 2013 and 2015) in the semi-finals. Last year, he was in the first round, eliminated by the Czech Tomás Berdych. At the Australian Open, he went no further than the second round.
in Spite of the withdrawal of Wawrinka, which is the current number fifteen in the world, there are still plenty of world to join in the tournament. With Daniil Medvedev (5), Stéfanos Tsitsipás (6), the winner of Gaël Monfils (9), and Roberto Bautista Agut (10) there are four toptienspelers to Rotterdam, the netherlands.
The 47th edition of the ABN AMRO tournament will start on the 8th of February, and a week later the final Table.
