Sofia Kenin can’t believe she is in her first Grand Slam singles title, at all times. The 21-year-old American, was on Saturday in the final of the Australian Open is too much for Garbiñe Muguruza.
The talented and Kenin had lost the first set, but it was a victory, and then, with a convincing game of 4-6, 6-2 and 6-2. By the age of 21 and 79 days, he is the youngest Us Open winner since Maria Sharapova in 2008.
“My dream has come true. It is simply impossible to describe. I am so thankful that I’m here. I just want it all follow your dreams, they will come all by itself,” said an emotional Kenin, in her speech, right after.
“I love this tournament and would like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way. It is truly an honor to be up here and I’ll get you next year again for sure. I also want to thank the audience. They were two of the best weeks of my life. You are in my heart and soul.”
