The number of incidents of anti-Jewish discrimination seems to be heavily on the rise. The history of the Jewish documentation centre, INFORMATION and registration for the past few years, in the Netherlands, 182 anti-semitic incidents. This is a record that is in the thirties that these numbers are to be maintained.
The figure represents an increase of 35 per cent compared with the end of 2018. “It’s hard to identify if there is indeed an increase in, or that there has been more focus on the subject of discrimination,” says she. “However, we feel that it is only the tip of the iceberg. Many of the people do not report incidents because they feel that they have to have the police there to do anything with them. This feeling is also based on the understanding that it is often at the police station, to be experienced.”
But, across the board, you will see that the society is hardened. A lot of people don’t feel that it was okay to use words like Jew or gay as a bad word to use. That trend fits with the rise of racism in football, or the Asian community, who were extremely stigmatized can feel it.”
