According to this count, an average of more than 1900 new cases per day were detected during the last seven days, a figure that has more than tripled in two weeks, which has prompted some regions to strengthen security measures. But if new outbreaks of the virus have been detected, the coordinator of the emergencies of the Health ministry, Fernando Simon, sees no sign of a second wave of the pandemic.

“I don’t know if there will be a new wave in the future. It does not seem to me that this is the case. If this was the case, we would be in a very different situation from the one we currently know it”, he said during a press conference.
The tourism sector is largely affected
“there is no exact definition, here or elsewhere. What we could define as a second wave would be when we have a transmission community, with widespread and uncontrolled (…) At the present time, this is not the situation in Spain”, he added.
