According to a count by the british news agency Press Associationn (PA), over 1,000 migrants have managed to cross the straits, one of the busiest in the world, for the single month of July. At least 682 migrants were intercepted by the French authorities after attempting to cross the English Channel using makeshift vessels or by swimming from the 1st of January, according to a count by the AFP.
