From five to four. The journey for Caleb Kennedy, that made the top five on season 19 of American Idol, has come to an end.
The singer, 16, announced via Instagram on Wednesday, May 12, he won’t remain a portion of the competition following a resurfaced movie that apparently shows him sitting next to somebody wearing what seems to be a Klu Klux Klan costume.
“Hey y’allthis is gonna be a small surprise but I am no longer gonna be on American Idol,” the singer posted on Wednesday. “There was a movie that surfaced online and it exhibited actions that weren’t meant to be taken in this way. I was younger and did not think about the action, but that’s not an excuse. I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everybody who I’ve let down.”
He added that he’s taking a break from social websites to”better myself” and is hopeful for the future.
“I understand this has hurt and disappointed a great deal of people and made people drop respect for mepersonally,” Kennedy wrote. “I am so sorry! I hope that I will one day regain your trust in who I am and have your esteem! Thank you for supporting me.”
While the Sunday, May 16, was set to include a double elimination, it will now include the final four and only one singer going home.
This marks the next surprise exit of the season. Back in April, sponsor Ryan Seacrest declared that fan favorite Wyatt Pike could no more be a part of the contest.
“I have to inform you finalist Wyatt Pike will not be rival in the contest.
“I had to depart the @AmericanIdol contest for personal reasons but am so thankful I get to play with music for the rest of my life,” Pike, 19, wrote via Instagram two weeks following the announcement. “Fellow contestants — overlook , fantastic luck! Thank you to everybody for your support… do stick around for much more musical items shortly!”
In addition, he got an outpouring of assistance. “So much love for you personally Wyatt,” Kinstler, 20, commented. “You will do AMAZING things; I cannot wait to see it all unfold for you!!”
