The Saudi Football Federation has announced the renewal until 2027 of the contract of coach, Frenchman Hervé Renard, who qualified the Gulf team for the next World Cup.
“We achieved our first goal together, we will work together to achieve the others. I’m here to stay,” said the 53-year-old Frenchman in a video posted Friday on the Saudi team’s Twitter account, in which we see him signing a shirt bearing the number 2027.
Under his leadership, the Saudi Green Falcons, who emerged from the first round of the World Cup in 2018, obtained their qualification for the 2022 World Cup, which they will play for the sixth time in their history, at their Qatari neighbor.
Hervé Renard joined the kingdom in 2019, after resigning as Morocco coach. “From the moment I arrived I felt like one of you. I felt the passion for football, and the desire to succeed”, explains in the video the double winner of the African Cup of Nations, with Zambia in 2012 and Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.
