According to L’Équipe and confirmed by RMC Sport, Pascal Dupraz will not go beyond his contract, which expires on June 30, at AS Saint-Étienne. The Savoyard coach, appointed six months earlier, failed in his quest to stay in Ligue 1, after the defeat in the second leg against AJ Auxerre (1-1, 4-5 on penalties). The Greens will return to Ligue 2 for the first time since their rise to the top flight in 2004.
To rebuild, Saint-Étienne hopes to be able to count on Laurent Batlles. The former midfielder had finished his career in Forez before starting his retraining there. He led the ASSE reserve team for a long time before a first experience as head coach in Troyes, in 2019, which he had promoted to Ligue 1. RMC Sport reveals that Batlles (46) must meet Jean-François Soucasse , executive chairman of the club, on Tuesday.
