Eight European candidates are invited to a debate this Tuesday evening. Time, channel, themes… know everything.

Out of 37 lists submitted for these European elections, eight received their tickets to participate in the big debate on Tuesday, May 21. The eight leaders best placed in the polls will therefore meet this evening on the set of “La Grande Confrontation”, on the continuous news channel LCI, for an exchange hosted by journalist David Pujadas.

Expected at the meeting are Marion Maréchal (Reconquest!), Jordan Bardella (National Rally), François-Xavier Bellamy (Les Républicains), Valérie Hayer (Together! Presidential Majority), Raphaël Glucksmann (Socialist Party/Public Square), Marie Toussaint (Europe Ecologie Les Verts), Léon Deffontaines (French Communist Party) and Manon Aubry (La France insoumise). Start of the debate scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on channel 26.

The candidates will be invited to debate on four themes, said LCI: defense, economic sovereignty, ecology and immigration.

Less than three weeks before the European election, discussions promise to be lively. Especially since this debate comes two days before another confrontation, which is more talked about: the duel between Jordan Bardella and Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, scheduled for this Thursday on France 2. A duel which makes those who is announced third in these elections: Raphaël Glucksmann. The PS has also contacted Arcom on this subject, in the name of “respect for the pluralist expression of political debate”. In the meantime, determined to overtake Valérie Hayer on June 9, Glucksmann will undoubtedly be keen to exist in the debate this Tuesday evening to compensate for his absence on Thursday.

Also note the presence of Léon Deffontaines on the LCI set this evening: the Communist Party candidate is the only guest whose list is below the 5% eligibility threshold in the polls. The young communist, who did not participate in the last debate, on May 5 on LCP, will be able to take advantage of LCI’s invitation to relaunch himself in the race and remember the voters well.
