BRIDGERTON. Filming for the third season of “The Bridgerton Chronicle” has begun. Intrigue, new actors, release date… Here is everything you need to know about the sequel to the Netflix series.

[Updated July 21, 2022 at 10:41 a.m.] That’s it, filming for The Bridgerton Chronicle Season 3 has officially begun. In any case, this was announced in a video featuring the casting and posted on Twitter. As a reminder, the romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington (book 4) will be at the heart of the plot of this third season.

The Bridgertons season 3 also promises casting changes. Ruby Stokes, who portrayed Francesca Bridgerton, left the show and was replaced by Hannah Dodd. Other actors are joining her according to information from the Irish Daily Mirror, such as Daniel Francis (Once upon a time), Sam Philips and James Phoon (Wreck), in roles that are, for the moment, not yet known. The release date is not yet known. However, it is difficult to hope to discover the new episodes of The Bridgerton Chronicle before the year 2023.

If we know that the Bridgerton family will be back for a season 3, that’s all we know for the moment about this sequel. The return date of The Bridgerton Chronicle season 3 is indeed not yet known. According to Nicola Coughlan, filming should begin in the summer of 2022, so we can expect a release a few months later, sometime in 2023 most likely.

Netflix did not choose to follow the book timeline for Season 3 of The Bridgerton Chronicle. The sequel to the hit series will focus on the romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. Started in season 2, it will therefore be at the heart of the sequel. However, they are only the protagonists of the fourth novel. The idyll between Benedict and Sophie, which occupies the third novel, will therefore have to wait for a next season.

Which actors will be in the cast of The Chronicle of the Bridgertons season 3? Barring any last-minute changes, all of the main characters, meaning the Bridgerton family and the Featheringtons in particular, and everyone introduced in the first season, should be back for this sequel. Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma) has also confirmed that she will be back and that the marriage between her character and that of Anthony will continue to be developed in the plot.

Season 3 of the Bridgertons also operates a casting change: Ruby Stokes, who briefly played Francesca Bridgerton, gave way to Hannah Dodd for the role. The first was already engaged on another Netflix series, which is why we only saw her very briefly during the two seasons. The cast change will reveal more about the third daughter in the family.

Netflix subscribers will soon be entitled to a double dose of Bridgertons. At the same time as season 3 was confirmed, the streaming platform announced that a season 4 was also in the works. For now, we do not know its release date or its plot. However, we must wait for confirmation from the production before knowing more, especially since it seems difficult to imagine a release of The Chronicle of the Bridgertons season 4 before the year 2024.

The universe of The Bridgerton Chronicle is endlessly expandable given the host of characters that appear in the first two seasons. Netflix has already announced that a Queen Charlotte spin-off is in the works. For now, the title of this event mini-series is not known. We know, however, that this spin-off will be devoted to the rise of the queen, and especially to her love affair with King George. Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury will also be central to the plot.

Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell will appear in their respective roles from The Bridgerton Chronicle. The cast is also enriched by the presence of India Amarteifio (young Queen Charlotte), Michelle Fairley (Princess Augusta), Corey Mylchreest (young King George), Arsema Thomas (young Agatha Danbury), Sam Clemmett (young Brimsley), Richard Cunnigham (Lord Bute), Tunji Kasim (Adolphus), Cyril Nri (Lord Danbury).

The Bridgerton Chronicle is an adaptation of the novels of the same name, written by Julia Quinn. Each season adapts one of the volumes of this literary saga. The first season consists of eight episodes, lasting from 57 to 72 minutes. The series is currently streaming on Netflix. Season 2 premieres March 25, 2022 on Netflix. A season 3 and 4 are in preparation.

Synopsis – Set in 19th century England during the English Regency, the series follows the Bridgerton family, and more specifically the eight children of Viscountess Lady Violet. Each season focuses on one of the children of the family, and depicts their respective love stories in London’s high society.

The first season of Bridgerton focuses on Daphne Bridgerton, the fourth child of Viscountess Lady Violet. Daphne enters the world and meets the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset. The latter refuses to marry, despite pressure from his relatives and his mentor. Meanwhile, Daphne is desperate to find a suitable husband. After many twists and turns, Simon and Daphne manage to put aside their differences and get married to start a family. The end of the first season revealed that Penelope Featherington was hiding behind Lady Whistledown, this mysterious character who revealed the secrets of each other. Furthermore, Lord Featherington has been killed and his fortune will go to a man whose identity is not yet known. But his name does not seem to please Lady Portia. Regé-Jean Page achieved worldwide success by playing Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, in La Chronique des Bridgerton. But the comedian announced in April 2021 that he will not be appearing in the sequel. It should therefore be absent from season 2, devoted to the romance between Anthony and Kate. To justify his departure, Regé-Jean Page spoke to Variety about his discussion with the production before season 1, which told him that each season was independent and had a specific plot: “I said to myself, ‘It’s interesting’ , because it felt like a limited series. I can participate, I can contribute, and then the Bridgerton family moves on.” However, the actor is not replaced in the role of Simon during this season 2. His wife, Daphne, does appear in this salvo of 8 new episodes, and the Duke of Hastings is indeed mentioned a few times. .

The Bridgerton Chronicle has been available on Netflix since December 25, 2020. To discover it in streaming, all you need is a subscription to the platform. The entirety of Season 1 is currently available and viewable on Netflix. Season 2 goes live on March 25, 2022.
