MORANDINI. Targeted by complaints of corruption of minors, Jean-Marc Morandini will be tried on October 24, 2022 before the Paris Criminal Court. Update on the case.

[Updated July 21, 2022 11:19 a.m.] Trial date for Jean-Marc Morandini set. The television host will appear before the criminal court of the capital on October 24, 2022, announced the Paris prosecutor’s office. Jean-Marc Morandini will be tried on charges of corruption of minors.

“During this hearing, Mr Morandini will be able to defend himself and assert his rights,” reacted his lawyer Me Corinne Dreyfus-Schmidt to AFP. The host Jean-Marc Morandini has been under investigation since 2016 after the complaint of two young men who were minors at the time of the events. They accuse him of having made sexual proposals to them when they were 15 and 16 years old as part of a dubious casting. The host has always denied the facts.

One of the two complainants, who accuses Jean-Marc Morandini of corruption of minors, explains that he received, in 2013, messages of a sexual nature from the presenter via Twitter. This one would have detailed a fantasized sexual scenario to him. The second complainant, for his part, describes a meeting in 2009 in a private mansion as part of a casting for the remake of the film Ken Park. Then 16 years old, the young man is invited to undress completely, something he refuses at first before acceding to the request of Jean-Marc Morandini who then took his picture. Note that the young man has since withdrawn his complaint, recalls AFP.

Jean-Marc Morandini totally denied the facts of which he was accused. In the case of the complaint for events that occurred in 2013, he clarified to the investigators not to have known the age of his interlocutor who, for his part, claims to have specified it on his biography on the social network. In the context of the second complaint, for events that occurred in 2009, Morandini had explained to the investigators that, for him “nudity is not a taboo”, while pointing out that he found “odd the way of which he told you the facts […] Frankly, what you tell me is surreal”. Jean-Marc Morandini had reacted by taking legal action, contesting his dismissal for trial. On November 23, 2021, the Paris Court of Appeal chose to reject the request to appeal the dismissal order made by an investigating judge in 2020. The host then seized the Court of Cassation, without success : his appeal was dismissed at the end of February 2022.

This is not the only case in which Jean-Marc Morandini is involved. A trial should also take place for “sexual harassment” this time following accusations of comedians who claim to have passed castings in which they were asked to provide photos and videos showing them naked or masturbating, which the host denied . A questionable casting investigation was also opened in 2016, but was dismissed in 2018 due to “insufficiently characterized offences”. The investigation into sexual harassment was relaunched following new complaints in the summer of 2018. His production company is also the target of several complaints of concealed work. But the date of these trials has not been set.
